Have you ever cut someone off—or gotten into an accident—because you forgot to check your blind spot? Or because someone else forgot to?
Well, not only are blind spots an inevitable factor in driving but in life, we are often blinded by many different things. A pursuit for this, a desire for that, an obsession for this, and a grudge against that.
This weekend, we are not only going to see how the Pharisees were blinded by the law and by their religion, but how easily we can fall into the same pattern that they do.
For the next four weeks, we're going to discover—in the Gospel of Mark—how Jesus didn't come to start a new "religion" called Christianity. Rather, He came to pave a new road away from "religion" as a straightjacket, as an oppressive tool, and as a list of rituals and actions...to a highway of faith, hope, and love.
